Still moved...

If you're reading this, you're missing out!
Did you know that in the past week I redecorated Grandma's Table for Spring... gave Google the snarky smack-down they deserved on Easter Sunday... gave a photo tour of some fabulous rusty junk that I found - FOUND! - in my yard... and shared even more lovely vintage thrifty treasures? It's true, but I didn't blog about these things HERE... I blogged about them over at the Piglet's new home on the web at www.paintedpiglet.com.  Please click over to the new site and re-subscribe so you don't miss a single post! Because really, who could bear it if they missed reading about the rusty junk in my yard??

I'm moving!

Well okay, I'm not MOVING as in, moving to a new house. But The Painted Piglet is moving to a new "house" on the internet! I spent literally my entire weekend on this project, and there is more work to be done, but I am very excited and the whole thing will "officially" take place soon, so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, you might remember that a couple of weeks ago I launched the Painted Piglet vintage store on Etsy. Well, on Friday I sold my first item: a lovely framed needlepoint picture. I was thrilled to have sold it... but even more thrilled when I realized it was going to Sharon at C'est Chouette Home. Seriously, have you SEEN the amazing pillows she creates from heirloom needlepoint? She confirmed for me that indeed, she plans to make a pillow out of the piece she bought from me - I can't wait to see it! By the way, I've also added a few of my Rose Chintz pieces to the Etsy store - so if you're in the market for this pattern I hope you'll take a look!
That's it for now, I'll have more soon!  Janet

Super Bowl Recap

Okay so... did you watch the Super Bowl? We're not huge athletic supporters in our house, but we did have the game on... certainly the Ravens' 109-yard kick-off return at the start of the second half was exciting to watch, but moments later when the stadium lights went out, I swear this is all I could think of:

Who... or WHAT-ever was behind the power outage, it definitely affected the Ravens' mojo!  And that, folks is the extent of my expert football commentary.
Oh! And for the record, here are my picks for best commercials:  In third place, "Viva Young" by Taco Bell:

Second Place, "Man vs. Cheetah" by Skechers:

And my favorite,"Prom" by Audi America:

Of course, you can't have a Superbowl without a Budweiser Clydesdale commercial, and this year's spot was so sweet:

More soon,

Wishing you a very happy new year!

Snow Day 2012!

We received about 12 inches of snow overnight, and still snowing and blowing this morning, so I took a snow day and now am off work until just after Christmas! There are trees and lines down all over town (all over central Iowa, I'm sure) so we are lucky - we still have power and internet as of this writing (although our cable line is drooping precariously from the house to the pole, so TV and internet may be gone before the day is out!)... and our tree damage is confined to the yard.  Here are a few photos from this morning's beautiful mess...

I'm sharing these photos over at How Sweet the Sound - Beverly's lovely blog where this week, "Pink Saturday" is showcasing snow and snowmen :)

Pin of the week - repurposed tv cabinet

I was cruising Pinterest this week looking for inspiration for a new TV cabinet for our flat-screen. Something that would contain all the clutter and look vintage, since right now all we have is a small open shelf with all the electronics, DVDs, cables, etc. on open display (and... ahem... a bit dusty). I quickly came upon this photo, and although I no longer have children small enough to play in this delightful little "house," I thought it was an extremely clever use of an old wooden TV console. Kudos to Sugar Tot Designs for this inventive idea! So I'm choosing this for my favorite pin of the week, and I'm sharing it at the Friday's Favorite Pin party over at Decor to Adore. Cute!!
